Set up an authenticator app

SystemDox protects your account with two-factor authentication. You'll need a free authenticator app on your phone to generate sign-in codes. Here's how to get one and finish setup in a couple of minutes.

What is an authenticator app?

It's a small phone app that generates a fresh 6-digit code every 30 seconds. When you sign in, SystemDox asks for the current code — so even if someone learns your password, they can't get in without your phone. The codes are generated on your device and work offline; nothing is sent by text message.

Choose an app

Any of these free apps work with SystemDox. If you're not sure, pick Google Authenticator — it's the simplest.

Finish setup in 3 steps

    Install an authenticator app

    Pick one of the free apps below and install it on your phone. Any app that supports "TOTP" or "time-based" codes will work — you only need one.

    Scan the QR code

    Open the app and add a new account (usually a "+" button), then point your camera at the QR code on the SystemDox setup screen. No camera? Choose "Enter a setup key" and type the key shown under the QR code.

    Enter the 6-digit code

    The app now shows a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Type the current code into the SystemDox setup screen and select "Verify & Enable MFA".

    You're protected

    That’s it. From now on, sign-in asks for a fresh code from your app. Keep the app installed — you’ll need it each time you log in on a new device.

Good to know

  • Codes rotate every 30 seconds — if one is rejected, wait for the next and try again.
  • Make sure your phone's clock is set to update automatically; a wrong clock makes codes fail.
  • If you change phones, use your app's export/backup feature (or re-enrol) so you keep access.
